Dahlia Winter Prep Workshops
Dig, Divide, and Store: An End-of-Season Dahlia Workshop
Get ready to give your dahlias the cozy winter send-off they deserve! Every year we hear from fellow dahlia enthusiasts asking about our winter storage methods, so we’ve created this hands-on workshop to guide you through the process with confidence. If you learn best by doing (like we do!), this is the perfect way to get hands-on instruction in a supportive, friendly setting.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Dig, clean, and prepare tubers: Roll up your sleeves and learn the proper way to dig up and clean your dahlia clumps in preparation for dividing.
Divide with confidence: Step-by-step visual guidance on how to split tuber clumps, plus tips on the best tools for the job.
Best practices for healthy tubers: Learn techniques to prevent rot, avoid virus spread, and ensure your tubers survive the winter beautifully.
WHAT’S INCLUDED:
Educational handouts on dahlia care and storage tips
Waterproof gloves and tools provided for the workshop
Four different dahlia tuber varieties to take home and plant next spring
WORKSHOP DETAILS:
Dates: Friday, October 24th | Saturday, October 25th (choose your preferred day)
Time: 12:30pm - 2:30pm
Location: Playmor Junction (exact address shared after sign-up)
Attire: This is an outdoor event, rain or shine! Dress in layers, wear waterproof shoes, pants, and a jacket to stay cozy.
Spots: We’re keeping these workshops intimate with just 5 participants per session to make sure everyone gets hands-on experience and plenty of time for questions.
WHO THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR:
This is perfect for anyone who loves dahlias and wants to feel confident storing tubers over the winter. Our methods have a 90% success rate, and we’ll make sure you leave with the knowledge to care for your dahlias like a pro!
Important: Before attending, make sure you have a cool, freeze-free space to store your tubers (5–10°C). This could be a shed, a cool basement or attic, or even a dedicated fridge. Without a proper storage space, the workshop techniques won’t be effective.
POLICIES:
Tickets are non-refundable but transferable. Please let us know in advance if you’d like to transfer your ticket to someone else.
*Registration for the workshops will close at 12pm on Wednesday, October 22nd to allow us time to email participants the info they need for the workshop.
